Join us for our 8th Annual Golf Tournament
For the past nine years, the Mat-Su chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), its members, and the local business community have provided scholarships graduating high school seniors within the Mat-Su School District and Mat-Su College preengineering majors. To date we have provided over $15,000 in scholarships. The scholarships are intended to reward students who are interested in pursuing an education/career in engineering and have shown excellence in their academics, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. In addition to providing two annual scholarships to local students, ASCE Mat-Su funds community out-reach efforts. This year during Engineer Week the branch organized a showing of Dream Big, a film celebrating human ingenuity behind engineering at the Glenn Massay Theatre for five middle schools within the MSB school district. In past years, the branch has coordinated “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” events to help encourage more girls to pursue STEM careers. Further, the branch coordinates and provides volunteers for classroom presentations and activities for elementary through high school students. These scholarships and community out-reach efforts are funded by donations raised during our annual golf tournament.
